J

| Java |
An
object-oriented programming
language developed by Sun
Microsystems. It is similar to
C++, Java is smaller, more
portable, and easier to use than
C++ because it is more robust
and it manages memory on its
own. Java is platform-neutral so
it can be run on any platform,
because Java programs are
compiled into a byte code that
does not rely on
platform-specific instructions.
Java is a useful language for
programming Web applications,
since users access the Web from
many types of computers. Java is
also used in programming small
applications, or applets, for
the World Wide Web, as well as
in creating distributed network
applications. |
